Then, was a time for change.
Madeline Turner had once made a promise to herself that she would not sleep with another man until she knew it would be extraordinary. Now, several years later, she has set out to sleep with her fiancé for the first time. Knowing that it will be a night she will never forget she has planned to surprise him with an erotic night. Working up her courage she seduces him to follow her to a hotel suite. All the while Justin Faris is considering telling her that she has taken him, her fiancé’s identical twin, by mistake.
Amelia Steele, the “office mouse” has loved her boss Bryant Sharp from a far. She knew her place among all of her beautiful colleagues. Staying hidden behind the office plants was where she thought she would always belong. Until one night she is attacked in a parking garage. Coming to her rescue Bryant is now more than willing to show her what he really wants. To her surprise she is ready to show him what this “office mouse” is really willing to give him for her gratitude.
Sophia Rhodes finally got her man to propose. Maybe it wasn’t exactly how she had imagined, but he has asked her to marry him and she is going to be happy about it. But now that her new fiancé’s boss, the rugged Scotsman, Tristan Macklin has given her his own proposal, she has found herself contradicting everything she has once believed. How far is she willing to explore the better side of Scotland?
Alethea Eneas has lived in her sister’s shadow for most of her life. Normally when she would bring a date home they usually ended up leaving with her sister. So allowing her best-friend to talk her into “buying” a date for her brother’s engagement party seemed like good idea. Now that she has met Jace Kamber, she has found herself completely forgetting about her sister which has her wondering how fast they can make their own private party.
Leya Davis has been in love with her bodyguard, Jasper Kelley since she was sixteen. Unfortunately, staying professional was his only mission. Pushing him over that essential line has only been a fantasy for her. Will he ever want that girl who became a woman right in front of his eyes? Now that the question has been put on the table Jasper finds that he is willing to see how far that line can be pushed.
Ella Hall has been asked by her sister to help Colin Russo. A gorgeous billionaire who Ella has been in love with since the day she met him. As luck would have it, he was married…to her sister. Keeping her heart in check she is now forced to work alone with the one man she cannot have.
Now, they have each realized how drastic their decisions have changed their lives forever.

How many billionaires and bodyguards does it take to screw up a lighthearted Romance?

I don't know the exact number because I simply lost count, but here we have an offering with a clever format that is wasted on bad writing and even worse editing, caricatures instead of characters, multitudinous unrealistic details, one unbelievable senario after another and an unusually high number of billionaires and bodyguards (including a bodyguard "CEO").

All of the other caricatures are either "fashion models" or frumpy bookworms... there are even a few frumpy bookworms who look exactly like (nay, even better than!) their "fashion model" siblings. Oh, and, twins! Something must have been in the drinking water in the (vague and indeterminate) "tri state area" twenty-something years prior to our story, for there was a surfeit of twins among this set.

While the individual stories all held as much potential as the overall story, just like the overall story, none of the individual stories lived up to their potential.

And, then, to add insult to injury, the "author" broke one of the cardinal rules of Romance by denying the reader their due payoff in regard to the caricature who was, in essence, the *main*, main character.

I call her the *main*, main character, because our story begins and ends with Ella. For several long years, the married-to-someone-else, Ella, has been pining away for her twin sister's husband. One, "Colin Russo", a billionaire with an Italian accent who is said to resemble Christian Bale. (I'm not making this up folks!)

With all of the other caricatures, the reader gets an up close and personal account of the sexy time with their new man. In fact, the sexy time seems to be the true purpose of this book and the stories within... and, as I am no prude, I'm okay with that.

However, with Ella, the *main*, main character, we are inexplicably denied these details. Oh, sure, there is plenty of canoodling and aftermath, but it definitely stops short of the type of [ahem] "ins & outs" that we see with the other stories. Why? It was very bizzare to put so much focus on those types of details in the stories of the secondary caricatures, but not the *main*, main character. It was anticlimactic, to say the least.

As annoyed with this read as I was, that anticlimactic shortchange was the final straw. To suffer through this fool's gold only to be left unfulfilled in that regard was simply too much. It was then that I decided this book was worthy of a NEGATIVE one and a half stars, and that I must hie myself here to warn others of it's folly.

Lastly, this "author" must not think too highly of her readers. She takes no care to use proper spelling, or even the right words. Grammar goes by the wayside and punctuation happens dubiously and spontaneously. I mean, it is downright embarrassing... although, I admit, also rather humorous. Hey, when a book is this lame, one tends to seek out entertainment in any facet that one can find it.

Had I paid money for this book, I would have returned it. That is not something I am in the habit of doing, but, sometimes, it's a matter of principle. To keep it would have been to give the impression that I endorse it, and I simply can not endorse it.

Ultimately, I pushed through to the conclusion of this mindless drivel so that I wouldn't be one of those people who rate and review books they don't actually read. If it helps just one person avoid the pain and suffering that I endured... it still wasn't worth it, but at least no one can accuse me of not giving this book a fair chance.

No doubt there will be those who *just love* this book; there is, after all, no accounting for taste. However, for those readers who have any type of standards... proceed at your own risk.

Then Now edition by Kimberly Lowe Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

This is one of those hidden gems in the ebook library. Its a compilation of short stories that all intertwine. A fun mix of comedy, compassion and of course good ol' fashion passion. One of my favorite ebooks so far. If it was a paperback I would want to purchase it so I could pass it around to all my non-kindle owning friends.
