This version of Heimskringla does NOT include the Yngling Saga!!! It has the other 15 out of 16 chapters, but how can you make a version of a classic book without the first chapter??? That would be like buying a Bible without the book of Genesis!!! I will be returning this product to Amazon and getting ISBN 978-0292730618 instead, it is more expensive but includes this most important first story!!!Product details

yup, dated but OK...
It is usually difficult to separate historical facts from fiction when it comes to Scandinavian countries. This book may be helpful in determining an ancestral line.
I purchased this expecting more of a novel with select poems in it. However, when I got it, it looked more like a textbook (was very large) with a textbook format (the layout). My boyfriend still loved it, but I still wish it was a little smaller with more of a book feel!
This item is great. I still need an English translation of the Ynglinga Sagas.
Great stories of the Lords of Norway. Went into great detail of battles as well. It doesn't go into modern history though but this doesn't bother me.
The outsize format makes it a bit difficult to read comfortably.
Snorrie wrote down the history of the kings to preserve the stories. I think many of them would have been lost and forgotten, otherwise. A must read if you have an interest in Scandinavian history during the Viking times.
